My Review:

I have been on a reading spree with fantasy novels and I am loving it. While my Bookstagram is filled with Dark romance recommendations, I am getting more and more into romantasy and still exploring the tropes I like. However, I know that I am the kind of reader that wants smut AND Plot. Which is why I am kinda picky about the books I read and recommend.

Blade of the Sun by J. L. Cres is one of the books I would recommend because it is a captivating fantasy novel that weaves together elements of romance, rebellion, and self-discovery.

The story revolves around Solveig Andraevian, a princess in the Kingdom of Laevaris. She possesses unique abilities: can converse with animals and heal her own wounds. The world building of the book is fun to read about since there is the existence of the oppressive state, a rebellion and other external elements that add complexity to the plot.

This is not a cliche cutesy princess romance, the book has various dark elements included in it and some parts would be hard to digest. There is violence, abuse, and a multifaceted character that emerges out of it. I do like reading dark romance a lot, but haven’t read many fantasy novels with reverse harem plot before, so this was a refreshing read. The author uses incredible storytelling skills to narrate the story and I would say the book is medium spicy but the spice is toe-curling. Different love interests are introduced and it seems obvious why the fall for Sol. I loved how the romance and smut exists to enhance the reading experience but isn’t the only thing going around in the book.

So, if you’re ready for a thrilling blend of magic, rebellion, and romance, dive into the world of Blade of the Sun!
