Review Requests are open!
General information
I am currently accepting select Adult, Young Adult, science – fiction, Contemporary, fantasy, poetry, non-fiction, historical fiction books for review. You can send emails to alextheshadowgirl (at) gmail (dot) com.

Or you can connect with me here.

I accept print ARC’s(Paperback and Hardcovers), e-books (in epub format). If the book is a part of a series, then I may need the previous books. For details on my Book reviewing services, blogging collaborations and draft critique visit this link.

For paid marketing, mention “Paid marketing” in the subject of the email.

You can check and see if your book is on my TBR list. If it’s there, then you know I want to read it! You can also browse my Review directory to get a feel for my interests.

  • Fantasy
  • Historical fiction
  • Fairy tale/myth retellings
  • Paranormal
  • Mystery
  • Gothic horror
  • Romance
  • Science fiction
  • Contemporary
  • Non-fiction
  • Memoirs/modern biographies
  • Poetry
  • Short story compilations
  • Erotica
  • Extremely political or “hot button” topics

I am NOT accepting books in the following genres:

  • Free verse novels
  • Overtly preachy religious fiction
Accepting Books

If I accept a book for review, that means I will review it.
I will make every effort to read and review in a timely fashion and with regard to release dates, but I cannot guarantee this. I prefer to receive a book at least 2- 3 weeks prior to when you would like the review posted (But there are always exceptions).

I will write a review of almost every book I finish. Many reviews will also be posted on Goodreads, though not all and they may be modified. My reviews are written in a relaxed manner reminiscent of a conversation among friends. They are not meant to be objective literary critiques.

I write fair and honest reviews, but this does not mean I will always write positive reviews. My reviews are my opinion, and if I don’t enjoy a book then my review will reflect that.

If I do not finish a book I may write an explanation. These explanations are different from standard reviews and will state that I did not finish the book, why I did not finish, and if I plan on ever picking up the book again.

Review Structure

All reviews will include the following:

  • Cover art
  • Book stats: Title, author, publisher, release date,
  • My review: What I liked and didn’t
  • Star rating

My name is Christopher Slayton and I’m extremely excited to introduce you to my first ebook, a science fiction thriller titled Chaos Company, in hopes that you will consider it for a review.

Chaos Company follows a team of genetically enhanced soldiers hunting down a powerful mercenary who killed the team’s leader. During their hunt the team is forced to go AWOL and their abilities will be pushed to their limits as they engage with a ruthless private military company before coming to a final showdown on the Brooklyn Bridge.

I read through a book review compilation site and after looking through your site I do believe that a review would be great exposure for my ebook and for myself as a writer.

My ebook can be found at
If you are interested in reading in my work I can email a copy to you for a read and review. Thank you for your time and look forward to your response.

Hey I found your blog through the book review directory – great find in my opinion, I’m loving your blog 🙂
I was just curious if you would be interested in reading and reviewing my first (and recently published) novel – ‘Chasing Charli’?
Here is a description for the book on my blog –
I read your review policy and wasn’t sure whether this would be classified as an ‘issues’ book. The story does revolve around a murder..but I tried to make it witty and a funny read and it is more so focused on Charli’s relationship with her bodyguard.
The page on my blog has links to Goodreads, as well as Amazon where I believe you can get a copy of the book for free for kindle. If not, I can certainly send you a pdf. version if you are interested 🙂

Hi! I’m really glad that you liked my blog and you chose me to review your book. Unfortunalely The Review requests are closed for now. I’m already behind schedule with the ARCs and I’d like to read and review them before I take more books. Hope you understand. Thank you. – Alex 😦
