My Review:

The first thing I read when I opened this book was where it is mentioned that this book was meant as a wedding gift and is there anything cuter than that?
Yes, the poems that are written in the book.
I found the poems to be so beautifully written and profound that I got agitated why the author limited her target audience by associating the book with weddings. It is a book filled with love poetry and it also encompasses all other angles of a relationship. If this book had a different title, it would have a mass appeal among romantics who do not associate amour with only marriage. But the author explained very nicely how this book was never meant to be commercial and was, in all sincerity just a wedding gift. And that is why I think this book had poems written with such honesty.
I liked many of the poems but one became my absolute favourite and that is:
“Tears of the poet”

You’re the only man I’ve ever met
who seems to have the faintest conception
of what I mean when I write something

My poems, I think,
are merely your voice speaking

Is not poetry a secret language –
a sigh answering a sigh?

We go in and out of each other’s minds
without any effort

I awaken with you at dawn
and listen to you endlessly

Poem after poem we lie in each other’s thoughts and
all my teardrops turn into violets.

The only reason I took so long to finish this book is that I am not much of a romantic and so I could not take in all the love poems instantly. I enjoyed my time reading it and took it slow, reaching back on my shelf to read a poem or two every day, or at the end of a week.
It is one of those books that you can always return to and it will feel like a breath of fresh air every time.
