About this Book:

Young Tristran Thorn will do anything to win the cold heart of beautiful Victoria—even fetch her the star they watch fall from the night sky. But to do so, he must enter the unexplored lands on the other side of the ancient wall that gives their tiny village its name. Beyond that old stone wall, Tristran learns, lies Faerie—where nothing, not even a fallen star, is what he imagined.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Neil Gaiman comes a remarkable quest into the dark and miraculous—in pursuit of love and the utterly impossible.

My Review:

My second Neil Gaiman book this week after Norse Mythology and I have to say I am becoming a fan of this author’s unusual writing style, compelling stories and memorable characters and themes. This book tells the story of a man who goes into the faerie world to catch a star on the whimsical wish of the girl he loves.
There are so many people he meets on the way and struggles he faces only to find the star (now that revelation was unusual too but in a good way).
There are witches and magical paths, a kingdom, a quest to become king and how the whole story connects.
Moreover the writing, it is like the usual tale-telling (Once upon a time-ish) but nothing that cliche.
After my first book by Gaiman (Coraline), I really wanted to read another book by him and this one had been on my TBR for ages. So glad to have finally read it.
