Title: The Summoning

Author : Kelley Armstrong

Series: Darkest Powers

Publisher: HarperTeen

Genre: Paranormal, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal romance, Horror

I hadn’t read anything by Kelley Armstrong before this and now I regret that. The Summoning was really interesting and gripping.

Chloe just wanted a normal life. She wanted to be noticed, to pass from her art school and make movies, to color her hair, to date boys. But one incident and she goes to Lylie House. The place is very home-like apart from the whole don’t-get-out thing.

Chloe sees dead people and she’s termed schizophrenic but if only things were that simple.

The other characters is the book are also very fascinating.

Simon is cheerful, funny and friendly.

Liz is sweet. Rae’s character, I couldn’t quite figure out. Apart from that she’s really honest and fascinated with fire.

Derek is more of a mystery. I disliked him in the beginning but it all worked out towards the end.

Kelley Armstrong’s writing style is quite vivid. I could picture everything clearly in my mind. And apart from the whole seeing-dead- people-thing it felt kinda realistic too which is great thing and hard to find in paranormal books.

So if you haven’t read this yet, give it a try.

4 stars.
